MPP DUNLOP: ONE BILLION OF YOUR TAX DOLLARS WASTED
Ontario moving towards Banana Republic States under McGuinty
(Queen’s Park) – Today, Simcoe North MPP Garfield Dunlop sharply criticized the McGuinty Liberals’ over their complete incompetence in managing the Ontario economy.
The comments come following the report of the Provincial Auditor General and his findings that approximately 1 Billion Ontario taxpayer dollars have been wasted on the Electronic Health System.
“Ontario taxpayers deserve to know why Dalton McGuinty and his friends wasted 1 Billion tax dollars at a time when Ontario has become a have not province, when we are spending 2.1 million dollars per hour more than we are taking in, when we have seen 300,000 manufacturing jobs leave Ontario and when we are running a debt at close to 20 billion dollars for the fiscal year 2009-10,” said Dunlop.
“Dalton McGuinty and his friends are no better than some banana republics that operate on corruption, dictatorship and the rewarding of political friends,” he added.
The Auditor General found that even as he tried to complete the audit, roadblocks were thrown in front of him for several months that denied him access to information. His report indicates that hundreds of millions of taxpayer’s dollars were spent with no accountability or transparency.
“I am appalled that with so many demands on limited tax dollars for things such as Children’s Aid Societies, physician recruitment and post-secondary education, we have a government that is adding an 8 percent harmonized tax grab while at the same time wasting 1 billion dollars,” added Dunlop.
“It is now very clear why McGuinty is committed to the HST tax grab,” said Dunlop. He desperately needs to dig further into the pockets of Ontarian to make up for his mismanagement of the economy and the tax dollars of hard working Ontario families.”
