MPP DUNLOP: McGuinty’s Mismanagement is Hurting Ontario Families

Orillia –Simcoe North MPP Garfield Dunlop says the McGuinty Liberals just cannot break their tax-and-spend habit. Dunlop reacting to the release of the McGuinty Liberals Fall Economic Statement noted that, “Ontario families know they’re paying the price for Dalton McGuinty’s job-killing tax hikes, costly experiments, waste, fiscal mismanagement and scandals. They know hydro rates have gone up 75% under the McGuinty Government, while Ontario has the highest tuition fees and auto insurance premiums in the country.”

Expert economists have judged Dalton McGuinty as the worst fiscal manager amongst all the other Premiers. Ontario’s real per-capita GDP has declined by 8% since 2000. Meanwhile, the McGuinty Liberals spend $2.1 million more every hour than what they collect in revenue.

“As I meet with everyday families in my riding of Simcoe North and across the province, whoever I talk to, I’m hearing the same thing. People are working longer and harder than ever, spending less time with kids, at home, and seeing less on the family budget,” said Dunlop. “They want a government that shares their priorities – they want real relief and they want to end McGuinty waste.”

Ontario’s decline under Dalton McGuinty is killing jobs and taking money away from hard-working families. In the next provincial election, Ontario families will have a clear choice between the McGuinty Liberals, who have mismanaged Ontario’s finances, and a Tim Hudak Government that will restore Ontario’s leadership and foster the opportunities of tomorrow.

“According to their own fiscal update the McGuinty government admits that hydro rates will skyrocket 45%,” added Dunlop. “The Liberal government that got us into this mess cannot be trusted to get us out of it. Ontario families will have a clear choice between four more years of McGuinty Liberal high taxes or a PC government that will focus on their priorities.”
