EVES GOVERNMENT TO INVEST
$7.7M IN LOCAL
HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS
For Immediate Release
May 13, 2003 (Queen's Park) – Simcoe
North MPP Garfield Dunlop announced today that
the Ernie Eves government will invest an estimated
$7.7 million in two new highway construction projects:
one, in the Township of Severn, and the other,
in the Townships of Tiny and Tay. The call for
tenders for both projects commenced on April 30.
Work under the first contract will include structure
rehabilitation of the Highway 400 northbound lanes
over Highway 12, near Waubaushene.
The second contract calls for the rehabilitation
of Highway 93 from .22 kilometres north of Simcoe
County Road 27 northerly, to .26 kilometres south
of Highway 12, for a distance of about 10.9 kilometres.
Structure rehabilitation of the Wye River bridge
and extension of the northbound truck climbing
lane north of Wyebridge will also be completed.
"These projects will lead to better local
driving conditions and highway operations,"
said Dunlop. "I am so pleased that once again,
our government is investing in highway construction
in our area, improving roads for local residents,
commuters and visitors alike."
Construction on both projects is expected to start
this June.
