FOR POLICING PROGRAMS
IN MIDLAND & PENETANGUISHENE
For Immediate Release
July 15, 2003
(Queen's Park) - Simcoe North MPP Garfield Dunlop
today announced Ernie Eves government funding
of $39,042.62 from the Ministry of Public Safety
and Security for three policing programs in Midland
and Penetanguishene.
The Midland Police Services Board received $30,000.00
under the Partners Against Crime (PAC) program
that has supported crime prevention and community
safety initiatives across the province since its
launch in 1997. Projects have ranged from increasing
traffic enforcement and fighting e-crime, to reducing
auto theft and providing officer training and
equipment.
In addition, the Penetanguishene Police Services
Board and the Midland Police Services Board respectively
received RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere)
grants of $6,000.00 and $3,042.62. Since 1995,
this government has provided $1.2 million in RIDE
grants each year to enhance the enforcement capability
of police services against drinking-and-driving.
"Community safety has always been a priority
for me and for our government," said Dunlop.
"Programs like PAC and RIDE give local police
services the resources they need to help keep
our communities safe and secure."
