DUNLOP ANNOUNCES $730,601
TO IMPROVE COMMUNITY CARE IN SIMCOE COUNTY
October 4, 2002
(Queen's Park) – Simcoe North MPP Garfield
Dunlop today announced $730,601 in additional
annual funding for Community Care Access Centre
(CCAC) Simcoe County. The funding will help CCAC
Simcoe County continue to provide quality visiting
nursing, personal support, and homemaking and
therapy services in the Simcoe County area.
"I am pleased that our government remains
committed to addressing the long-term care needs
of people in Simcoe County and across Ontario",
said Dunlop. "It is important for all Ontarians
to receive the right level of care when they need
it, no matter where they live in the province."
The funding announced by Dunlop is part of $20.4
million for Ontario?s 43 CCACs, the latest in
a series of investments by the Eves government
to ensure that long-term care services are available
for people who need home care in their communities.
On July 31, the Eves government invested over
$200 million in long-term care facilities. This
includes $100 million to enhance the delivery
of nursing and personal care services, and $98
million to build new and renovate existing long-term
care facilities. In 1998, the government committed
$1.2 billion to expanding and renovating the province?s
long-term care infrastructure.
Since 1994/95, home care funding in Ontario has
increased by an unprecedented 66 percent.
