MPP DUNLOP: CALLS ON MTO TO INSTALL TRAFFIC LIGHTS AT
HIGHWAY 12 AND FAIRGROUNDS ROAD
(Orillia) – Simcoe North MPP Garfield Dunlop is calling on the Ministry of Transportation to install traffic lights at the intersection of Highway 12 and Fairgrounds Road in Orillia.
“My main concern is about the safety of the travelling public and the transportation of children to Notre Dame Catholic School,” said Dunlop.
“The intersection is a main traffic link for the school, for ODAS Park fairgrounds and businesses in that area. I have received concerns about the congestion, the lengthly delays in pulling out safely onto the highway and parents who are worried about safety issues as they attempt to pick up or drop off their children,” added Dunlop. “Motorists will sometimes sit for 20 minutes to a half an hour waiting to pull safely out onto the highway.”
Dunlop has a petition which asks the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to have the Ministry of Transportation install traffic lights at the intersection of Highway 12 and Fairgrounds Road, Orillia. The petition is available at his Orillia Constituency office at 14 Coldwater Road West.
