MPP DUNLOP TABLES MOTION REQUESTING FUNDING FOR COMMUNITY LITERACY PROGRAMS

(Queen’s Park) – Today Simcoe North MPP Garfield Dunlop tabled a motion in the Legislature which will be debated on February 26, 2009.

The motion reads as follows:

That in the opinion of this house the Government of Ontario should provide adequate funding to Community Based Literacy and Basic Skills Programs so that the agencies can properly address the growing enrollment.

“During this economic crisis, where there are massive job losses and increases in unemployment, there is a need for the McGuinty Government to increase funding to Literacy and Basic Skills Programs across Ontario,” said Dunlop. “It is imperative that we provide the necessary tools to Ontarians in order to keep them employable.”
