MPP DUNLOP:  BIG SUPPORTER OF TIM HUDAK

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and welcome MPP Tim Hudak (Niagara West-Glanbrook) on his election as our new party leader.

Many may not realize it, but Tim who was born at Fort Erie, Ontario on November 1, 1967, has an amazing education and work background. In 1990, he earned a bachelor of arts (economics) from University of Western Ontario and a master of arts (economics) from University of Washington in 1993. Before entering politics, he worked in tourism and economic development.

I had the pleasure of meeting Tim when I first ran for office in 1999. From that year until 2001, Tim served as Minister of Northern Development and Mines. He was Minister of Culture, Tourism and Recreation from 2001-02 and served as Minister of Consumer and Business Services from 2002-03.

At just the age of 41 Tim understands the importance of making Ontario a great place to live, work and raise a family. He and his wife Deb have a 20-month-old daughter, Miller. As a father he knows the importance of education and healthcare and he will focus on spending money wisely.  With Tim's enthusiasm and youth, I know he will be a great leader and would be a good premier for Ontario. It will be my pleasure to work closely with him and my caucus colleagues to restore hope in Ontario’s future.

The next phase for Tim will be rebuilding the team. He has a lot of hard work ahead of him but I am confident that we can beat the Liberals in the next election in 2011.

Please circle July 11th on your calendar. This will be the day of a summer tradition which I am looking forward to, my 9th Annual Constituency Barbecue held in Coldwater. Over 400 people usually attend the event and are treated to great food and entertainment. This day is all about families and I hope to see you there. The event is free of charge and runs from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Coldwater Curling Club.
