Springwater News July 31st for August 6th

Several MPP’S will play a key role in Tim Hudak’s shadow cabinet. and I am proud to say I am among them. I retain my position as Critic of Community Safety and Correctional Services and I have also been named Chair of the Standing Committee on Estimates.

When the Leader of the Official Opposition (and member for Niagara West-Glanbrook) recently unveiled his shadow cabinet, he noted that his choices reflect the priority of job creation and economic renewal for the upcoming Fall Legislative session. Changes will also help us move forward and into the 2011 provincial election.

I am honoured to continue in my role as Critic of Community Safety and Correctional Services. The appointment makes perfect sense with OPP Headquarters in my riding. We also have one of the largest correctional facilities in the province, the Central North Correctional Centre in Penetanguishene which I work with as well.  I also continue to foster a good relationship with area police and fire departments and paramedics.

I am also looking forward to chairing The Standing Committee on Estimates, which reviews and oversees spending of all provincial government ministries. Under Dalton McGuinty, Ontario’s taxes and government waste have hit new heights. Being able to review the spending of all ministries from previous years and carefully reviewing planned spending for coming years will be key in turning the economy around.

Under McGuinty’s watch, Ontario has lost 330,000 manufacturing jobs, became a have-not province, and has a record $18.5 billion provincial deficit.

As Tim Hudak noted we need innovative ideas grounded in conservative principles in order to get Ontario moving. It is time to focus on the issues that matter to middle-class families, defeat Dalton McGuinty and the Ontario Liberals, and bring prosperity to our province.
