MPP DUNLOP APPLAUDS SIMCOE COUNTY COUNCIL

(Orillia) –Simcoe North MPP Garfield Dunlop is congratulating Simcoe County Council on its decision to place a one-year moratorium on the controversial development of Dump Site 41 in Tiny Township.
 
“The 22 members of council who voted in favour of halting construction at the site are to be commended for keeping an open mind and paying attention,” said Dunlop.

Protestors have been arguing that the contents of the dump could contaminate some of the world's purest drinking water, which runs through a massive aquifer below the site.

“We know Site 41 is a mistake! I have been pressing the fact that our job as politicians is to listen to the people. County Council has now done that. This will allow the time needed to properly assess the impact this landfill would have on a vital water supply," Dunlop added.
