MPP DUNLOP:
PROUD TO BE A CANADIAN
This year on Sunday, July 1, our beautiful country
will celebrate its 140th birthday. Canada Day,
year to year, is normally the busiest day of the
year for a provincial politician. My wife Jane
and I attend both private and public events across
our riding throughout the day and into the evening.
As citizens of Canada, we often take for granted
what Canada has to offer in terms of the quality
of life we have compared with other jurisdictions
throughout the world.
As Canadians, we live in a land where our freedoms
and civil rights are admired by countries and
civil rights organizations throughout the world.
Our freedoms are certainly always a high priority
when any provincial legislation is drafted that
pertains to issues involving human rights. At
committee level, we continually see human rights
and civil liberties leaders making presentations.
As Canadians we can be very proud of our health
care and education systems that provide quality
programs to everyone equally, despite their financial
status.

As Canadians we take pride in the natural beauty
and resources that Canada has to offer and for
that reason, Canadians are solidly behind environmental
protection and easily adapt to programs that will
provide clear water, fresh air and energy conservation.
Finally, I believe Canadians are essentially
proud of the role of our ? whether it is helping
our friends in times of distress and dictatorship
or playing a peacekeeping role in countries around
the world, the Canadian military has always been
symbol of what we stand for as Canadians –
protecting the freedoms that we care so passionately
about.
On Canada Day, try to get out to some local Canada
Day celebration and be thankful for living in
such a wonderful country as Canada.
